From Johnson’s viewpoint, it’s very important to possess complete optical knowledge through job rotations. He believes that possessing actual optical processing experiences will complement the difficult sales functions of selling optical products.
In his current role as the Sales Manager for Taiwan, Johnson manages the sales and technical aspects of the business. He believes that you have to satisfy the customers both in terms of technical and business requirements because optical products are much more technologically complex than other products in the markets. Johnson also aggressively looks for new leads and provides valuable feedback of new technological information to our R&D Team at Edmund Optics’ headquarters in Barrington, NJ, USA.
Johnson’s favorite motto is "A rolling stone gathers no moss" because he continuously searches for new customers and technological knowhow.
Johnson Chang began his optical career with Baso Precision Optics in Taiwan as an Optical Process Engineer in 1988. He has held various engineering roles in Optics Manufacturing, Engineering Process, Research and Development, Assembly Operation (trouble-shooting for three years and thereafter appointed Supervisor in charge of Cementing), and Centering and Assembly (for two years with around 70 employees under his care). Johnson was subsequently promoted to Product Manager in charge of the development and management of all new products. Johnson has a diploma in mechanical engineering from the National Taipei University, and he joined Edmund Optics Singapore Pte Ltd in 2011 as the Sales Manager of the Taiwan region.
