Brief Summary

The Supply Chain Assistant Manager is responsible for supporting daily supply chain operations, including material planning, purchasing coordination, inventory control, warehouse activities, shipment planning, and cross-department communication. This role ensures materials are available on time to support production needs, while maintaining inventory accuracy, cost control, supplier follow-up, and smooth delivery to customers. The role also supports LMW compliance and documentation control, ensuring proper material movement, inventory accuracy, and customs-related records are maintained according to company and government requirements.

Job Description

  • Support overall supply chain activities, including purchasing, planning, warehouse, inventory control, and shipment coordination.
  • Work closely with Production, Quality, Engineering, Customer Service, and Logistics teams to ensure material availability and smooth production flow.
  • Monitor supplier material shortage, delivery status, and production requirements to avoid shipment delays.
  • Review and follow up purchase orders, supplier commitments, delivery schedules, & overdue materials.
  • Coordinate with warehouse team to ensure proper receiving, storage, issuing, stock accuracy, and cycle count activities.
  • Support inventory control activities, including slow-moving stock, excess materials, FG stock, WIP status, and stock reconciliation.
  • Assist in shipment planning to meet customer delivery requirements and revenue targets.
  • Prepare supply chain reports such as shortage list, inventory report, shipment plan, supplier delivery performance, and action tracking.
  • Support improvement projects related to material flow, warehouse layout, inventory accuracy, lead time reduction, and process efficiency.
  • Work with cross-functional teams to resolve supply chain issues, including material delay, wrong delivery, quality issue, customs/logistics delay, or urgent customer demand.
  • Ensure supply chain activities follow company procedures, safety requirements, ISO standards, and internal control guidelines.
  • Lead or support team members in daily problem solving, follow-up actions, and continuous improvement activities.
  • Handle and support LMW related activities, including import/export documentation, customs declaration support, material movement control, and compliance with LMW requirements.
  • Coordinate with Logistics, Warehouse, Purchasing, Finance, and external agents on LMW documentation, shipment clearance, and customs-related matters.
  • Monitor LMW inventory movement, including raw material, WIP, finished goods, scrap, return goods, and bonded stock accuracy.
  • Ensure all LMW records, permits, reports, and supporting documents are properly maintained for audit and customs inspection.
  • Support monthly or periodic LMW reporting, reconciliation, and internal checking to ensure compliance with company and government requirements.
  • Follow up with relevant departments to ensure LMW transactions are updated correctly in the ERP/system.

Qualifications

  • Degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, Business Administration, Manufacturing Management, or related field.
  • Minimum 5 years of working experience in supply chain, planning, purchasing, warehouse, logistics, or manufacturing environment.

Required Skills & Abilities

  • Experience in ERP systems such as SAP, Oracle, or similar system is an advantage.
  • Expertise in both optical components and metal assemblies, ensuring that the final product meets the highest standards of quality and reliability.
  • Able to communicate with suppliers, internal departments, and management effectively.
  • Good understanding of production planning, inventory control, purchasing process, warehouse operation, and shipment coordination.
  • Experience in LMW, customs, import/export, bonded warehouse, or manufacturing logistics will be an added advantage.
  • Good problem-solving and follow-up skills.
  • Strong communication and coordination skills.
  • Able to work under pressure and support urgent production or shipment needs.
  • Good leadership and teamwork mindset.
  • Strong documentation control, accuracy, and compliance mindset.
  • Strong sense of responsibility, discipline, and ownership.
  • Analyzing data and preparing reports using Excel or ERP system.
  • Good planning, organizing, and time management skills.
  • Able to identify risks early and escalate issues when needed.
  • Able to work with government departments, forwarding agents, internal warehouses, finance, and logistics teams on LMW matters.
  • Knowledge of import/export, customs, LMW, bonded warehouse, or logistics process will be an added advantage.
  • Good command of English, Bahasa Malaysia, and Mandarin will be an added advantage.
